Portable DV DDR
Analog shooters could only look on with envy as portable DDRs for DV camcorders proliferated over the past year or so. But nNovia salves that pain with QuickCapture A2D, said to be the first portable, analog/digital hard disk drive recorder for the pro video industry. Building off the success of the company's QuickCapture DVR, the compact A2D lets users of any NTSC/PAL analog composite camcorder — it works with DV gear as well — record up to nearly six hours of video (80GB model). Use it as a bridge device, since the A2D I/O handles analog and digital modes, as well as recording in AVI or MOV file formats. Connect it to a computer via the FireWire port for drag-and-drop file transfers, too.
Price: $1,399 (40GB); $1,599 (60GB); $1,799 (80GB) San Jose, Calif. (408) 436-1486 www.nnovia.com
