DV drive

At DV Expo in Los Angeles, ADS Technologies introduced a FireWire camcorder drive priced significantly lower than higher-capacity offerings from competitors. Still, the company says that portability was the main objective in designing the Pyro DV Drive. The drive attaches to your camcorder via 1394 and captures .dv files at the push of a button on the face of the 5.25"×3"×1" unit. Holding up to about an hour and 40 minutes of footage, the Pyro features a 20GB, 2.5in. IDE hard drive and the Oxford 911 chipset. Computers recognize the Pyro as a lettered drive to bypass the step of software-based capture. A built-in lithium ion battery recharges through either the FireWire bus or the included power supply.
