For the launch of its new product 10g, information management company Oracle chose one of London's most prestigious theaters, the Odeon Leicester Square. The theater, famed for its Compton organ, first opened on Nov. 2, 1937, with the Royal Premiere of The Prisoner of Zenda. Since then, it has undergone renovation to become a modern glass multiplex and mezzanine cinema. Nearly 2000 Oracle staff members and account customers gathered at the Odeon for a demonstration of the new software product.

The content of the demonstration included mixed ratio inputs — Beta SP and triax camera feeds with Concise Graphics, London, supplying backgrounds and titles — so Thomas Conlon of the Projection Partnership and event producer UpStage Event Management, London, contacted Steve Plevin at Joy's Production Services, the European supplier of Montage from Vista Systems, Phoenix. On short notice, Joy's supplied the Montage controller and an operating technician.
The Montage was linked with a 6000-lumen Christie X6 Roadster projector, which projected onto a 52ft. screen. In addition, plasma feeds were sub-switched for presenter reference. Montage was used in dual pip mode plus zoom to amplify key data lines on the screen.
