MONTREAL--Miranda Technologies today announced that it has integrated an automated HD character generator within its Oxtel Series Imagestore HDTV channel branding processor to allow the playout of complex, multilevel graphics.

"The Imagestore HDTV's character generator is easy to operate and uses graphics templates that are linked to automation, Web data, or other databases. It's well suited to highly automated "Coming up next" type branding graphics, clock insertion, and lower-third text crawls. It can also be used for more complex infochannel television graphics," said Richard Brice, Managing Director Europe at Miranda Technologies.

The character generator allows designers complete creative freedom and can be controlled easily, either directly by automation or with Miranda's highly intuitive Gallery graphics preparation, data interfacing, and remote control software. Gallery allows operators to build on-air graphics with "Objects" from a desktop gallery, and these can be readily linked to multiple data sources including proprietary data feeds. The software automatically generates a highly adapted, soft control panel for each on-air presentation, which greatly simplifies operation.

Imagestore HDTV has a highly modular design, which can be scaled from a two-layer logo inserter to a full master control switching and channel branding system. Hence, as a station invests in HD infrastructure, it can expand the Imagestore HDTV processor to meet its growing mixing, branding, and control requirements.

The entry-level Imagestore HDTV provides two layers of animation/still insertion from internal video storage. Options include input switching, A/B video mixing, AES audio mixing, extended image storage, Emergency Alert System (EAS) support, and automated character generation.

New media management software, called Imagestore Media Manager, simplifies the preparation and distribution of on-air graphics for the Imagestore HDTV.

The processor can be controlled by the compact Oxtel-HD-RCP panel, or by a choice of fully featured, master control switching and channel branding panels. The new compact and affordable PresStation master control switcher and channel branding panel can control multiple HD and SD channels and features a color display for media browsing and easy monitoring and parameter adjustments.
