Simple, scalable storage
To feed video and audio files to a small group of NLEs, some rely on standard Windows servers. But they can be tricky to maintain, so simpler-to-use NAS (network-attached storage) solutions have gained popularity. The latest scalable NAS from Snap Appliances shows why: the Snap Server 1100 requires minimal administration or support, and generally takes about five minutes to set up, the company says. Like Snap's other NAS products, the 1100 features a customized, embedded Linux OS that automatically recognizes and supports all major platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, NetWare, and Unix. The drive array also includes an unlimited user license for the bundled PowerQuest DataKeeper backup software.
